Introduction to Vega - The Academic Publishing System

On Friday, February 16th from 9:30am to 11am, Dr. Ball will give an introduction to and overview of the exciting new multimedia-friendly academic publication platform Vega in HCB 313.

Vega is an open-source publishing software platform that offers a range of customizable features and workflows to interact with data, multimedia and text--taking editorial management and academic publishing into the 21st century. The software will allow scholars across different disciplines and knowledge domains to collaborate and engage in building media-rich interdisciplinary possibilities in scholarly, open-access publishing. Vega provides authors, editors, and publishers the ability to integrate basic multimedia content into their publications—something other open-access academic publishing systems lack—and gives users complete control over editorial workflows, peer review processes, and program features.

All are welcome to attend, but we especially invite anyone interested in scholarly publishing, multimedia scholarship, and the future of authorship and editorial work to attend.
