ORCID is a nonprofit organization that provides persistent digital identifiers for researchers, enabling them to unambiguously distinguish themselves from other researchers and create an open digital profile of their works and accomplishments. ORCID also maintains a number of public and private APIs that enable institutions, funders, and publishers to harvest data from researchers' ORCID profiles. In this session, we will take a close look at the ORCID platform, discussing what benefits it can provide to researchers in your disciplines, and examining some fascinating examples of how institutions can leverage the data available through ORCID's APIs.
