Research in STEM Disciplines

10:00-11:00am
This workshops will feature an overview of key library resources that provide a foundation for conducting research in the STEM Disciplines. The following databases will be explored during the session: Web of Science, PubMed, and SciFinder. An introduction to using library research guides will also be provided.

 

Best Practices in Research Data Management

11:20 am-12:20 pm This workshop will provide an overview of issues in reproducibility, best practices in managing research data (file naming, data documentation, data security), public access requirements, and creating data management plans. Having a current or proposed project in mind during the session will help materialize the concepts discussed.

 

3-D Printing

12:40 pm-1:40 pm This workshop will provide an overview of how 3D printing works as well as the printing services offered by FSU Libraries. Topics of discussion include: design software, model files, slider software and print files. Participants will leave with an understanding of the foundations of 3D printing, how it can enhance their research and education, as well how to locate 3D printing resources such as free pre-made models and training modules.

 

Citation Management Tools

2:00-3:00pm Citation management tools are resources that you can use to store and organize your references and to format citations and bibliographies. They are also great for organizing references for collaborative projects. This workshop will explore Mendeley, EndNote Basic, and Zotero and will discuss the different features of each citation management tool.
